Tell City – Perry County Public Library Teen Advisory Group

The Teen Advisory Group (T.A.G.) is a 25 member advisory panel which was formed to ensure the ongoing development of Young Adult services, materials and programming at the library, to attract teens to the library, and to get their input regarding ways to meet the needs of teens in the community. Included in this group are young adults in grades 7 - 12 that live in Perry County. They help to decide what books, magazines, audio books, videos, DVDs, and programming the library should have for their age group. They read, discuss, and review Young Adult books and have input on the teen website. They also promote library programs to their peers and in the community. T.A.G. is limited to 25 teens, but individuals may apply at any time for eventual group openings.

* T.A.G. meets on the first Tuesday of each month in the Meeting Room of the library from 4:30 p.m. until approximately 5:30 p.m. Each month after the meeting from 5:30 p.m. until approximately 6:30 p.m.. there are a group of teens who meet for a book discussion.

EXPECTATIONS:

T.A.G. members are required to have an updated library or bookmobile card, any overdue materials returned or renewed and any fines paid. Also, we ask that any over dues or fines in the future be taken care of promptly.
We ask that members try really hard not to miss the meetings since we only meet once a month, but life happens and if a member must miss a meeting, they just need to let Lisa Hammack (Ms. Lisa) know. The library's telephone number is 812-547-2661. A member is considered inactive if they miss more than three meetings in a row without calling. That means they would need to fill out a new member form and be put on the waiting list to rejoin.
Also, there is "no pressure" if a member decides that T.A.G. isn't for them, they should just let Ms. Lisa know so she can call someone on the waiting list.

T.A.G. gives teens the opportunity to voice their ideas, develop leadership and teamwork skills, meet new people, and help to make a difference by serving their community and peers.
