Tell City – Perry County Public Library Teen Advisory Group

The Teen Advisory Group (T.A.G.) is a 25 member advisory panel which was formed to ensure the ongoing development of Young Adult services, materials and programming at the library, to attract teens to the library, and to get their input regarding ways to meet the needs of teens in the community. Included in this group are young adults in grades 7 - 12 that live in Perry County. They make overall suggestions for the teenagers of their community like; helping to decide what books, magazines, audio books, videos, DVDs, and programming the library should have for their age group. They read, discuss, and review Young Adult books and have input on the teen website. They also promote library programs to their peers and in their schools. While T.A.G. membership is limited to 25 people, due to facility restrictions, individuals may apply at any time for eventual group openings.

* T.A.G. meets on the first Tuesday of each month in the Meeting Room of the library from 4:30 P.M. until approximately 5:30 P.M. After the meeting if anyone wants to stay from 5:30 until approximately 6:30 P.M. we will have a book discussion.

EXPECTATIONS:

Respect needs to be given to everyone in word and action. All individuals have different likes, dislikes and ideas so everything is respectively discussed.
T.A.G. members should have an updated library card, with any overdue materials returned and any fines paid. Also, any overdues or fines in the future should be taken care of promptly.
Members should try really hard not to miss the monthly meeting, but if a member must miss a meeting, please let Lisa Hammack (Ms. Lisa) know. If a member decides to quit coming to the meetings, they just need to tell Ms. Lisa they no longer want to attend, so she can call someone on the waiting list.
A member will become inactive if they miss more than three meetings in a row without letting Ms. Lisa know if they are missing because of band, or a sport, etc. That means they will need to fill out a new member form and be put on the waiting list to rejoin, if T.A.G. already has 25 active members.

BENEFITS OF BEING INVOLVED IN THE TEEN ADVISORY GROUP:

Teens will have the opportunity for their ideas to matter, to develop leadership and teamwork skills, to meet new people and have personal satisfaction by serving your community and peers. Last but not least, this will be something that’s different and fun to do.
